Raleigh Ravenscroft is going for a repeat.

The Ravens used a stifling defensive effort against Charlotte United Faith to defeat the Falcons 53-41 in the semifinals of the Summit Hospitality bracket of the HighSchoolOT.com Holiday Invitational Thursday night.

They’ll face the winner of Raleigh Upper Room and High Point Wesleyan at 9 p.m. on Friday; Upper Room and Wesleyan face off at 9 p.m. on Thursday.

Ravenscroft coach Kevin Billerman said senior guard Madison Jones’ defense on United Faith guard and University of Florida signee Braxton Obgueze — who was held to 14 points — was the key.

“In my 12 years at Ravenscroft, I think today may have been the best defensive game we’ve had,” Billerman said. “For the second night in a row, Madison Jones shut down one of the premier guards in the state. … I told Madison if he held him under 15, we’d win. I guess I was prophetic there.”

Ravenscroft was led Anton Gill and Jones, who each had 16 points. Andrew Franz added 11 points for the Ravens.

United Faith was led by Obgueze’s 14 points, albeit on 5-of-14 shooting, including 1-of-6 from behind the 3-point line. No other Falcon scored in double figures, although senior center Peter Jurkin finished with eight points and 10 rebounds.

“Congratulations to Ravenscroft; they came out and played an excellent game,” United Faith coach Muggsy Bogues said. “I think we had some mental breakdowns; we recognized where the shooters were, but we had some miscommunications.”
