Indiana offers Reggie Bullock, ECU offers Bo Ingram

Bryan Hanks | College recruiting, College sports, East Carolina University, News, Pictures, Prep basketball | Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

Wells Gulledge has confirmed that Indiana University coach Kelvin Sampson has offered Kinston sophomore guard/forward Reggie Bullock a scholarship to play basketball for the Hoosiers. Gulledge said IU offered today after watching Bullock play all over the country this summer.

Bullock, who is 6-5 and 175, came off the bench last year to help lead the Vikings to the 3A championship game. He is expected, along with Bo Ingram, to anchor Kinston this year.

  5. Please Hanks, for all that is good in the world, DON’T bring sexy back. Nobody wants to see that.

  6. Hanks never let sexy leave!

heh…by the way, didn’t Wells have some issue with Bullock’s summer plans having to do with missing a camp attended by the rest of the team?

  7. Ingram can do better than ECU

  8. Why don’t you boys call up ‘ol Roy and get him on Carolina’s team.?
Going to ECU is better than any scholarships we ALL received??

Its really not all based on the Friday nights in Lenoir county, most interest is generated in summer camps againt REAL competition. Thats where these guys get noticed, and if Bo did not have good camps then the big boys aren’t gonna talk.
Perfect example- R. Bullock (soph) coming off the bench in high school????? and still gets IU attention and a scholarship? WOW!

  9. I’ve heard all you Carolina fans extolling the virtues of the hill for 50 some years now, and this is the first time I have ever said my piece. So sit down, shut up for a minute and let me give you my two cents worth!!
As strange as it may seem to some of you, there are actually folks that would prefer not to attend UNC. Just because it isn’t your choice of schools doesn’t make it wrong for someone else to choose ECU. Amazing as it might seem my roommate @ “EZU” was the daughter of a professor @ UNC. When I asked her why she chose ECU, she said that she felt that it was a better fit for her personality than Carolina. I felt the same way. Some of us liked being small fish in a medium-sized pond. There are great things happening @ both schools, but little upstart ECU will never be UNC-we’ve only been in existence for 100 yrs. Our med school is only a little over 30. Carolina used to have the ONLY med school. And Will, if every student athlete that “can do better than ECU” feels that way, there will never be any improvement in the athletic programs. And there has been improvement over the last 30 years, primarily from recruiting local talent. It makes me very proud to see kids from the eastern part of the state attending and playing for ECU. For a lot of these kids they are the first or second generation in their family to attend college. The most important thing to remember is that these young people are continuing their education-where they go isn’t as important as going. So what if the entrance requirements @ ECU are not as tough as Carolina. It hasn’t always been that way-they both accepted me! In another 50 yrs. ECU will have the same requirements that UNC has now and Carolina will have tougher ones. And guess what-Harvard and Columbia will have tightened up their requirements as well!! It is all about prestige and if they will accept anybody then that factor is out of the equation. I’m almost sorry that I didn’t go to Randolph-Macon as I had originally planned. Then I wouldn’t have a dog in this fight….

  10. clap……..clap………clap………(slow clap for whatever that was)

Or maybe your roommate wanted to get away from her old man, regardless, what does this have to do with the price of tea in China?

  11. The way I see it is, a scholarship is a scholarship, no matter if it is from UNC, ECU or LCC. That is more education that a kid or parent doesn’t have to pay for. If the kid is good enough, he will get noticed by the next level no matter where he goes. Congrats to both of these kids. I am sure they are both very deserving.

  12. Justin Timberlake? I think you just threw out any heterosexuality you had left out the window…as well as any taste in music.

Excuse me while I go back to vomiting in the toilet from thoughts of that grotesque individual and horrible musician.

By the way Will, let’s not tell Bo he can do better than that. I was looking forward to going to some BB games next year…

Oh yeah. Minges Coliseum has a new name. During the 2007-08 basketball season, it will be officially known as “The Hindenburg.”

  13. Sounds like “Sportswife” is a little jealous she didn’t get into Carolina. Yes, I’m a ‘Heels fan, and I hold no malice towards ECU, except for when they play the ‘Heels. ECU doesn’t put their money into basketball. Unless the football program goes belly up again, it will stay that way.

Bo Ingram is an excellent ball player, no doubt about it. If he’s looking to start as a freshman, ECU or same caliber program is still the same, but if he wants to win, he should try a more aggressive program. Now, GWhitley, I’m not just saying Carolina (although I’d love to see him in Carolina Blue), because there’s many other schools that could show him attention, and win. Granted he might have to ride some pine for a year or two, but as competitive as I am, I’d rather be on a winning team, than a bottom feeder team.

Lee, I’m sure you’ll go to basketball games, Memphis still makes the trip to “The Hindenburg” and it’s usually good to see a top 25 team.
