As of this moment, everything is still a go for tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m., except for two games.
Jones Senior’s game at Goldsboro has been moved to 2 p.m. on Monday. And I think that idea is awesome: It’s a holiday, most folks will be out of work (thus defeating the “no fans will show up” argument) and the kids will get a night to study, etc., before heading back to class on Tuesday.
That is a brilliant idea.
Also, the APA game is now at 6 or 6:30 p.m.
As of right now, every other game is scheduled to be played at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, although I don’t see how it’s going to happen. Here are the contingency plans IF they are not played tomorrow…
Kinston at North Lenoir: Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
West Craven at South Lenoir: Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
Greene Central at C.B. Aycock: Monday at 7 p.m.
North Pitt at Ayden-Grifton: Friday, Sept. 29 at 7:30 p.m.
Definitely on:
Lawrence Academy at Parrott Academy: Playing Monday at either 6 or 6:30 p.m.
Jones Senior at Goldsboro: Playing Monday at 2 p.m.
Here you go…let the rain stay away! Remember, pick ‘em all or have the ones you don’t pick count as losses.

I was 13-2 last week and am now 24-5 after two weeks. I missed the EWayne-Goldsboro game and the Jax N’Side-James Kenan game. That’s two weeks in a row I’ve underestimated James Kenan…maybe I’ll learn.
There’ll be college games in next week’s picks, so maybe that’ll spread us out some. It’s pretty bunched up after two weeks.
Congrats to Spence (the legend), Jagshouse, RJarman, The Kid, Go Twins and Heelatious for their 12-3 weeks.
Remember that when I post the games (probably tomorrow), you have to pick EVERY game or the ones you don’t pick will be counted as losses.
UPDATE: Thanks, Flagan, for the corrections. If anyone else sees a mistake, feel free to share them.

I’ve heard your arguments and I think we need to come up with a new policy for our blog pick ‘ems…starting NEXT WEEK (to give everyone a chance who has already picked their games for this week), if you leave a game out, accidentally or otherwise, it will count as a LOSS.
And the reason why I go with percentage over total wins is because of a situation like our good friend Chris Oliver. The man was on his honeymoon for God’s sake last week, how could he be expected to remember to pick some games??? I’ll determine — like last year — what the mininum number of games is to be considered for the season title.
Former North Lenoir basketball coach Charlie Stevens was found guilty on three felony counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor and one misdemeanor count of sexual battery.
He was given the maximum penalties, which include: 60 days in the Department of Corrections; having to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life; 90 months of supervised probation; $1,500 fine; surrendering his teaching certificate; forced to take a psychiatric examination; 150 hours of community service; and he can’t be in the same room with a girl under the age of 18 without consent of a probation officer.
For more on this, see Katie Marshall’s story in Friday’s Free Press.
As we’ve let you guys know through the years, we’re huge fans of Brian North’s “Blitz” on Friday nights on WCTI ABC-12. Now, you’ll get to see even more of the “Blitz.”
The show airs live at 11:15 p.m. on ABC-12; now, it’ll re-air at 1 a.m. on UPN-3 and again at 8:30 a.m. on UPN-3.
Nothing against the other two football shows on WNCT CBS-9 and WITN NBC-7, but North’s show is head and shoulders ahead of their’s. North always, always makes a point of getting to Lenoir County, where the other guys usually have us as their secondary or even third or fourth choice. Witness the fact that North had South Lenoir’s Casey Corey as his first coach of the week last week. He also had Parrott’s Bill Rowe and North Lenoir’s Wayne Jackson on last year, too.
You saw the leaders, here are this week’s games:
South Lenoir at Kinston
North Lenoir at East Duplin
Parrott Academy at Northeast Academy
Wilson Beddingfield at Greene Central
Ayden-Grifton at Pinetown Northside
Jones Senior at Union
Clayton at C.B. Aycock
Eastern Wayne at Goldsboro
South Central at Farmville Central
Southwest Onslow at Jacksonville
Wallace-Rose Hill at Southern Wayne
Rocky Mount at Wilson Hunt
Dixon at Swansboro
Jacksonville Northside at James Kenan
Wilmington Ashley at Raleigh Wakefield (that’s for you, JWade!)
I had the opportunity to observe the afternoon session of the Charlie Stevens trial today. The prosecution and defense will give their final arguments tomorrow and the jury should have the case before by 10:30 a.m.
I am not going to share my personal feelings…yet. But when the verdict is handed down tomorrow, I will have a column in the paper and will let you guys know what happened.
